20th Century Decorative Arts
“The decorative arts of the 20th century reflect all the movements that spanned the century: from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, from the great decorator-ensemblers to Post-war design and contemporary designers. Artists are dedicated to arranging entire interiors: from furniture to tableware, from lighting to ceramics, they explore all creative fields. In this way, the discoveries my profession offers are endless.”

Art Nouveau, Decorative Arts, Modernism: Appraisal and Valuation
Each year, Aguttes Auction House organizes several sales in Neuilly-sur-Seine dedicated to 20th-century decorative arts, offering over 300 works by renowned artists at auction. All the major artistic movements from the first half of the 20th century are represented:
Art Nouveau, with works by Emile Gallé, the Daum brothers, Louis Majorelle, René Lalique, Carlo Bugatti, and Louis-Comfort Tiffany; Art Deco, represented by Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann, Jean Dunand, Armand-Albert Rateau, André Groult, René Buthaud, Edgar Brandt, Émile Decoeur, Jean Puiforcat, Jean Desprès, and ; then comes Modernism, championed by Robert Mallet-Stevens, Jean-Michel Frank, Pierre Chareau, Eugène Printz, André Sornay, and Jacques Quinet among others.
Finally, the great decorators and ensemble designers of the 1940s are also featured, with pieces often presented by Jules Leleu, André Arbus, Gilbert Poillerat, Maxime Old, and Jean Royère, as well as pieces from prestigious decoration houses such as Jansen, Baguès, and Ramsay.
Our auctions extend into the second half of the 20th century with works by leading figures of postwar and contemporary design.
