1
REQUESTING AN ESTIMATE
In order to carry out an estimate or inventory of your goods, we invite you to provide us with all the information in your possession (photos, dimensions, date, signature, technical characteristics, origin, state of preservation, etc.).
2
Contact us
Contact our specialist departments based in Paris directly, or get in touch with our representatives throughout the regions, in Brussels or Geneva, to benefit from a local service.
In the event of an inheritance or division, the Inventories department is at your disposal to coordinate your project.
Our valuations are free of charge and confidential. The information gathered can be submitted using our online valuation request form.
We can also be contacted by e-mail or telephone.
3
Meet up
It is important to meet to understand your project, view and appraise the objects, and explain our positioning and auction strategy. Further meetings can be arranged to meet other stakeholders, to clarify expertise, our services or the promotional plan.
4
SIGNING THE CONTRACT
Before selling your property with Aguttes, you will need to sign a sales mandate. The financial conditions (estimate, reserve price, fees) and the resources allocated to the sale (promotion, transport, insurance, etc.) are formalised in a contract signed during an appointment or remotely.
A made-to-measure sales service
After examining and evaluating your item, our specialists work with you to develop a personalised sales strategy that best meets your specific needs. This strategy is based on unique access to the international art market. Your object can be presented on our website, at exhibitions in our offices, or kept confidential if you opt for a completely private transaction.
Seller's commission
Aguttes applies a single commission rate for the services it provides. The commission is calculated for each item as a fixed percentage based on the final hammer price at auction. This rate includes marketing and insurance costs.
Agreement on estimates and reserves
Aguttes will agree with you a low and high estimate range for each item. This information is published in the auction catalogue and is available to potential buyers.
Aguttes will also agree with you a reserve price for each item. This is a jointly agreed amount below which the sale will not be effective. This amount must be equal to or less than the low estimate and will not be published.
5
SHIPPING YOUR ITEM
Your Aguttes contact can help you organise the packing and shipping of your item to our sales room or warehouse, or you can use your own shipper.
6

Each of our departments organises four auctions a year, as well as online sales. Once the auction has closed, the department will inform you of the result and you will receive the proceeds within four to six weeks.

After the auction
After the auction, you will receive notification of the price achieved by your item. We will then confirm the net proceeds of the sale on the basis of the hammer price, less agreed fees and commissions. Please note that the prices quoted on our website are inclusive of all costs.
Aguttes will then act on your behalf to obtain payment from the buyer.
Tax implications
Auctions are taxed. Capital gains tax is 6.5% of the auction price and is levied on every item sold to a private individual for more than €5001.
There are two exemptions:
If the property has been owned by the seller for more than 22 years (in this case, you will need to complete a form and return it to us with one of the supporting documents described).
If the seller is a foreign national and is not a tax resident in France.
