A barrel of whisky estimated at €300,000 to be auctioned
On October 23, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Aguttes auction house will be selling an entire barrel distilled in 1992 from the famous Scottish distillery. Its estimated value? Between €300,000 and €400,000.
For whisky connoisseurs, the year 1823 should ring a bell. That was the year the British government passed the Scottish Excise Act. The aim was to increase revenue from the industry, which was very popular in Scotland at the time, and to exercise tighter control over the spirit.
