Pop Culture & Memorabilia
“Pop culture is one of the great narratives of our time. Music and cinema are major vectors of this narrative. When an instrument, a costume, or a film prop is thoroughly documented, it transcends its original function: it becomes a cultural witness, a bearer of memory, context, and transmission. My work consists of identifying these objects, guaranteeing their provenance, and restoring them to their rightful place in history.”
Arthur Perault
The department Pop Culture & Memorabilia brings together objects from 20th and 21st century popular culture, chosen for their verifiable provenance and historical value. Iconic instruments, archives, costumes, film and stage props are selected with the same high standards as artworks and heritage documents. Each object tells a small story from the greater narrative of history and is passed on to those who will write the next chapter.

Department Head
Coming from the world of music, our specialist Arthur Perault initially focused on instruments, archives, and objects related to artistic practice, before broadening his field of expertise to entertainment and popular culture collections. He has organized and conducted several themed sales featuring major figures in music and contemporary culture, in collaboration with private collectors and rights holders.
With over 10 years of experience in the specialty, Arthur Perault joins Aguttes to structure and develop the Pop Culture & Memorabilia department, dedicated to collectibles from music, cinema, and contemporary culture.
His work focuses on provenance, the coherence of collections, and the historical significance of objects, taking a long-term approach that bridges the gap between private collections and institutional interest.
Services
Aguttes treats each item as a cultural and heritage artifact, structuring sales to ensure clarity, consistency, and traceability. This approach guarantees collectors a reliable and transparent experience, while enabling the department to consolidate its position in the national and international pop culture and memorabilia market.
Appraisal and expertise: provenance analysis and objective evaluation.
Transactional advice: support on sales strategy and collection valuation, and lot optimization.
International visibility: content creation and wide but also targeted distribution to private and institutional buyers on all relevant digital and physical platforms.
Market and collectors
The department primarily targets buyers who are sensitive to the rarity, provenance, and historical consistency of objects, whether they are private collectors, institutions, rights holders, or market professionals. Iconic instruments, stage costumes, and well-documented archives are among the most sought-after lots. Value is based as much on history and past use as on the quality of the documentation that guarantees its transmission.
