In 2007, Cartier exhibited all its treasures at the Kremlin Museum in Moscow, immersing us in the Cartier style and the influence of Imperial Russia, during the reign of the last Tsar Nicolas II. Among the objects on display is an exceptional piece, a revolving disc clock in Empire green enamel with a grey-blue base, reflecting the jeweller's admiration for the famous Fabergé eggs. This clock, whose description resembles our own, is a perfect example of Cartier's Russian period, during which many of his objects were inspired by Fabergé creations.

While the egg is obviously associated in the collective unconscious with the reign of Tsar Nicholas II and the sublime creations of Fabergé, we can say that Cartier found its inspiration in Imperial Russia.

Many of Cartier's customers in Western Europe also appreciated its creations, which were directly inspired by the Slavic soul. Some Russian-inspired creations can be found in the homes of major customers in France. A similar example of this "Egg" clock was sold at the time to Anna Gould, the wife of Boni de Castellane, illustrated on page 76 of the reference work Cartier Objets d'Exceptions, by Olivier Bachet / Alain Cartier.
