On Tuesday 23 September from 10am, an exceptional auction will feature almost 250 works by the artist Hannah Ben Dov, donated directly by the artist's heirs to Labeaume Town Hall in 2009. This unique collection includes around fifty oil paintings and almost 200 drawings, testifying to the richness and sensitivity of a remarkable artistic career.
Born in 1919, Hannah Ben Dov studied in Paris and Tel Aviv. She followed in the footsteps of abstract artists, influenced by the School of Paris, while developing a personal expression based on balance, colour and rhythm. She was very active between 1950 and 1980, and exhibited regularly in France and abroad.
Her oils on canvas are characterised by pure compositions, rigorous formal research and a subtle palette. Her drawings, done in charcoal, ink or pencil, reveal great spontaneity and a free, sometimes meditative gesture. The collection as a whole offers a rare insight into the world of an artist who was discreet yet deeply committed to her art.
This sale represents a unique opportunity to acquire works of great artistic and historical coherence, in an ensemble that has been preserved for several decades. An opportunity not to be missed by art lovers and collectors alike.
