The 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Série 2 in the La Vente de Printemps catalogue, which fetched the exceptional sum of €200,600 on 16 March, aroused great enthusiasm among collectors and car enthusiasts. This Ferrari was no ordinary 330; it had an exceptional past that made it unique and all the more desirable...

Behind the heavy barn doors of an old family castle, under innumerable tarpaulins and blankets, we discovered two cars: a Mercedes 190 SL and this famous Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Series 2, with its original interior with the desired patina, Campagnolo rims and strange taillights... Beyond this incongruous modification, beneath its Azzurro Metallizzato paintwork was a much rarer shade, probably an original Verde Scuro.
After checking the numbers and the condition of the car, we realized that this was a unique piece, a true witness to history.

The 330 GT 2+2 Series 2 was first presented at the 1965 Paris Motor Show. And it was precisely the car illustrated on these pages that was the star of the show. In 1966, it was again chosen as the safety car for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a historic race in which the rivalry between Ford and Ferrari reached its climax. This edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans remains one of the most legendary in motor racing history, and was even brought to the screen in 2019 in the eponymous film “Le Mans 66”.

This classic Ferrari, which has been off the radar for over 50 years, ticks a lot of boxes on today's market. Its official participation in the climax of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans makes it undoubtedly the most desirable of all 330s. The new owner of this Ferrari inherits a precious piece of automotive history, a model that marked its era both technically and historically.
