Autograph POEM, Sketches; 1¼ pages, quarto (tears at the folds).

A beautiful poem, which appears in various versions under the title *Au fil de l’heure pâle* in *Pour la musique* (1914); the manuscript contains two corrections, as well as variations from the published text, particularly in the opening lines. It consists of four stanzas.

‘As the day draws to a close, we walk, after the rain

  Along the walls of a park where beautiful trees dream. 

  We follow them for a long time. The hour passes

  As the hands of night slip along the old walls

  But what troubles you as the pale hour passes

  That fringes the black hands of the railings?

  Tonight, the calm after the rain has something

  That brings to mind exile and the night"...
