2 volumes, large 8vo, 156–374 pp. and (6)–373 pp. Contemporary green morocco, ribbed spine, author, title, volume number and date in gold, richly decorated panels, large floral gold stamp in the centre of the covers framing a gold lyre with a border of fillets, scrolls and dotted lines in gold, large gold stamps at the corners, gilt fillets and scrolls, double gilt fillet on the edges, guilloché caps, inside covers lined with red morocco with a border of gilt scrolls and fillets, double half-leaves of laid paper, gilt edges, original cover preserved [Chambolle-Duru] (very slight, barely noticeable sun damage to the spines and upper covers, with the gilding on volume II slightly oxidised; a few light foxing spots on the first quires of the volumes; a few marks on the second endpaper of volume I).

A fine illustrated edition featuring 18 compositions by Emmanuel Toudouze, etched by Champollion.

A very fine copy with full margins, elegantly bound in morocco leather by Chambolle-Duru.

A limited edition of 500 copies, this one being one of 150 on Japanese paper (no. 87).

Each engraving is accompanied by two black-and-white plates: a proof with a note, an autograph signature, and a pure etching.
