2 volumes, large 8vo, (2) folios, XXIII–386 pp. and (2) folios, 432 pp. Blue-grey morocco, ribbed spine decorated with a gilt fillet, gilt title, volume numbers and date, panels, covers and back covers framed by multiple gilt fillets, double gilt fillet on the headbands and footbands, gilt edges, cover preserved [Chambolle-Duru]. (a few foxing spots on the endpapers).

A very fine copy with full margins.

A facsimile reprint of the first edition, illustrated with 32 black etchings by Valentin Foulquier, including a frontispiece and vignettes within the text.

A single print run limited to 500 copies, including 150 special editions on extra-fine Japanese paper in 8vo raisin format; this is no. 52.

In an elegant morocco binding, perfectly executed by Chambolle-Duru.

Enriched at the head of the first volume with a publisher’s prospectus and a specimen subscription form; as well as a set of black etchings on vellum.
