Contemporary green half-maroquin with corners, plain spine richly decorated, author, title and date gilded, double gilt line on the covers, gilt edges, cover preserved [Moralès Poitiers] (minor rubbing on the upper edge and corners).
A very fine copy with wide margins, bound in a lovely signed morocco.
New illustrated first edition featuring numerous illustrations by Albert Lynch, including a colour etched frontispiece by Gaujean and a title-page portrait also etched in black by Gaujean; 10 etchings by Massé or Champollion and a vignette at the head of each chapter, photogravure by Dumont and printed in intaglio with varied tones.
Printed on heavy vellum.
