Square 12mo, (4) leaves (half-title, title page, introduction)–42 pp. Red morocco with period coat of arms, decorated ribbed spine, covers framed by a gilt garland with floral and animal motifs, gilt edges, blue silk endpapers (some scuffing and scattered minor pinholes).

Manuscript bearing the coat of arms of Louis-Charles, also known as the Count of Eu, Prince of Dombes.

The manuscript was subsequently passed on to King Louis Philippe, bearing his seal ‘La Bibliothèque du Roi / Palais Royal’ on the half-title page, and is now held in the library of the Palais des Orléans.

Louis-Charles de Bourbon, born at the Château de Sceaux in 1701, where he died in 1775, was a French prince of the House of Bourbon, who served as Duke of Aumale, Duke of Maine, Duke of Gisors, Count of Eu, Count of Dreux, Prince of Anet and Baron of Sceaux, as well as the last sovereign of Dombes, grandson of Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan (legitimised branch, with a barred coat of arms).
