Large 8vo, (3) leaves including a frontispiece, XX–184 pp. Havana morocco, raised ribbed spine decorated with a gold fillet, author, title, place and date in gold, panels decorated with gold fleurons and edged with gold and black fillets, thick framing of multiple gold or black fillets with gold ferrule, double gilt fillet on the fore-edges and headbands, double border of a double gilt fillet on the half-ends with fleurons at the corners, half-ends and endpapers lined with black embroidered cloth, gilt edges, original cover, slipcase with flaps and matching case [Mercier].

An edition illustrated with numerous engravings by Alcide Théophile Robaudi, engraved on copper by Henri Manesse, including 26 full-page plates and vignettes at the head of the text.

Limited edition of 300 copies, including 100 special editions on Japanese paper and Marais vellum; this copy is no. 21 on Japanese paper.

This copy is enhanced by a watercolour signed by the artist on the frontispiece; a double set of engravings; and a prospectus.
