Pastels.

Paris, L. Conquet, 1895.

8vo, 330 pp. Turquoise morocco, raised ribbed spine, author, title and date in gold, squares, covers and endpapers framed by multiple gilt fillets with metal fittings at the corners, double gilt fillet on the edges and caps, cover and spine preserved, imitation half-maroquin binding slipcase with matching slipcase [G. Mercier, son of his father] (minor scuffing to the binding and inside of the slipcase, spine of the slipcase slightly faded).

The illustrations consist of 11 watercolours by Robaudi, engraved on copper by Chauvet and Hellé, which were printed in colour using the cylinder press by Wittmann on the general half-title and chapter half-titles, and retouched by the artist; 35 watercolours by Giraldon, reproduced in relief by Ducourtioux and Huillard, were printed in colour using letterpress by Chamerot and Renouard; two of these appear on the cover, one as a title finial, eleven as headpieces, ten as initials, and eleven as tailpieces.

A single edition of 200 copies on Japanese paper; this is no. 11.

A fine copy.
