Small folio, loose-leaf, unpaginated, 32 unnumbered leaves including half-title, title page, four original black drypoint engravings by Pablo Picasso on buff laid paper of the text’s engravings, the text, the proof of the print run and blank leaves, in a modern slipcase imitating a havana morocco binding, covers and flaps covered in modern marbled paper, all in a slipcase with navy morocco trim and green-tinted tissue paper (discrete paper oxidation typical of the period, slight oxidation on the edges of the drypoint engravings, half-title page partially split at the fold and oxidised on the reverse, without the publisher’s wooden cover).
Original French edition translated by Jaume Canyameres.
A copy illustrated with four original black drypoint engravings by Pablo Picasso, printed on Roger Lacourière’s presses, with a caption dated and signed by him in the plate and printed upside down.
Each print is numbered II/IV and signed by Picasso in his own hand.
Limited edition of 250 copies, including 20 proof copies with a suite.
Copy numbered in Roman numerals, considered to be one of the non-commercial copies reserved for collaborators, not listed in the proof.
Listed as “a few copies for collaborators, this one being one of the last, numbered ‘II/VIII with suite by Henri Jonquières’”.
This copy, no. II/IV, is hand-marked by Henri Jonquières, director of printing, and bears his handwritten signature.
