MEIJI ERA (1868–1912)
A small lacquered cabinet, shaped like a drum (taiko), resting on a lacquered eagle-shaped base; it opens with two doors, revealing three drawers and three doors, two of which are sliding, the front of the doors decorated in hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with a gold dragon set within a medallion; the side of the drum is adorned with mon and scroll motifs.
