Westfield Sportscars is a British automobile manufacturer founded in 1982 by Chris Smith. The company specializes in producing lightweight sports cars, inspired by iconic Lotus models, particularly the Lotus Seven. Westfield vehicles are available as factory-assembled models or as kit cars for enthusiasts who prefer to assemble them themselves.
From the outset, Westfield produced faithful replicas of the Lotus Seven, which led to legal disputes with Caterham Cars, the official rights holder of the Seven. These disputes were eventually settled amicably, after which Westfield introduced significant design modifications while preserving the spirit of classic British sports cars.
Over the years, Westfield expanded its lineup with notable models such as the SEi, MegaS2000, and Megabusa—the latter powered by a Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle engine, delivering impressive performance. The company also innovated with models like the FW300, which became its first vehicle to receive European small-series homologation.
In 2006, Westfield was acquired by the Turner family, a group of engineering enthusiasts who sought to expand the company’s operations and bring their expertise to automobile production. Under their leadership, Westfield continued to innovate, particularly by developing electric and hybrid vehicles, including the iRacer, an electric race car kit.
In 2019, Westfield acquired Chesil Motor Company, adding Porsche 356 Speedster replicas to its portfolio. However, in June 2022, the company entered administration and ceased operations. In September 2022, Westfield was acquired by Westfield Chesil Ltd., relocating to Bicester, England, with the intention of reviving production.
Today, Westfield is recognized for its handcrafted sports cars, which combine dynamic performance with classic design, continuing the legacy of lightweight and agile British sports cars.
