Porsche 911 – 964: Estimates & Market Value

Turbo fever in the late 1980s

By the mid-1980s, turbocharging was everywhere from Formula 1 to poster-worthy supercars. Following the launch of the 964 in 1989, Porsche unveiled its boosted variant. At the 1990 Geneva Motor Show, the brand introduced a brutally charismatic machine the second chapter in Porsche’s turbo saga. In what enthusiasts later nicknamed the 965, the 964 gained broader hips, a prominent rear wing, and sportier side sills. Successor to the unforgettable 930 in both power and presence this new 911 Turbo aimed to be a touch more civilized, without sacrificing its ferocious character. Apart from ABS, there were no electronic driver aids to tame it.

Inside, however, Porsche delivered one of the finest GT cabins of its day: abundant leather, radio-CD, air conditioning, and the all-important boost gauge. The 3,299 cc M30/69 engine with a KKK turbocharger produced 320 hp, paired with the G50/52 five-speed gearbox. Demanding yet rewarding, the 964 Turbo delivers exceptional thrills, storming from 0–100 km/h in under 5 seconds. Fast, reliable, and versatile, it encapsulates all the qualities of a well-born sports car. Acquiring a 964 Turbo or otherwise remains a compelling experience and a gateway to rediscovering analog driving sensations.
