Swiss Excellence in Watchmaking and Jewelry
Founded in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget, the Piaget brand began its journey in La Côte-aux-Fées, a small Swiss village where it specialized in crafting high-precision watch movements. Initially a supplier for other prestigious brands, Piaget took a significant step forward in 1943 by launching its own watches under its name. By the 1950s, the house had established itself as a pioneer in ultra-thin watchmaking, notably with the introduction of the Caliber 9P in 1957, a revolutionary hand-wound mechanical movement measuring only 2 mm thick. This pursuit of ultra-thin movements remains a defining feature of Piaget’s expertise, continuously pushing the boundaries of miniaturization. A testament to this is the Altiplano Ultimate Concept, unveiled in 2018, which still holds the record for the world’s thinnest mechanical watch at just 1.75 mm in thickness.
Beyond its watchmaking expertise, Piaget stands out for its bold approach to jewelry. In the 1960s, the brand pioneered the use of hard stone dials, incorporating materials such as lapis lazuli, malachite, onyx, and coral, lending a distinctive artistic touch to its creations. This avant-garde spirit also gave rise to some of the brand’s most iconic jewelry watches, such as the cuff watches of the 1970s, where the dial seamlessly blends into sculpted gold bracelets adorned with diamonds. Today, Piaget’s jewelry collections, including Possession, Sunlight, and Golden Oasis, continue to reflect the brand’s commitment to elegance and creativity.
Piaget positions itself in the luxury world at the intersection of fine watchmaking and high jewelry. Its flagship watch collections include Altiplano, celebrated for its refined minimalism and ultra-thin movements, as well as Piaget Polo, a sporty yet elegant watch appealing to a dynamic and sophisticated clientele. In jewelry, the Possession line, with its spinning rings and playful designs, embodies the house’s contemporary spirit. At the same time, Piaget continues to produce exceptional timepieces such as the Emperador, often featuring complications like tourbillons or minute repeaters.
A member of the Richemont Group since 1988, Piaget maintains its prestige through vertical integration, overseeing every stage of production, from movement development to final assembly, ensuring unparalleled quality. The brand is also committed to ethical manufacturing, sourcing its precious metals and gemstones responsibly.
