Philippe Starck, born on January 18, 1949, in Paris, is an internationally renowned French designer, architect, and inventor. A key figure in contemporary design, he has distinguished himself through his ability to combine creativity, innovation, and functionality. His democratic approach to design, aimed at making beauty and utility accessible to as many people as possible, along with his commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable design, has made him one of the most influential creators of his time.
The son of an aeronautical engineer, Philippe Starck was immersed in the world of technology and industrial design from an early age. He studied at the École Camondo in Paris before venturing into interior design and furniture creation. In the 1970s, he founded his first company, specializing in inflatable design, and quickly caught the attention of professionals in the field.
His career took a decisive turn in 1983, when French President François Mitterrand entrusted him with the renovation of the private apartments of the Élysée Palace. This project propelled Starck onto the international stage, opening doors to major collaborations. From that point on, he multiplied his projects, ranging from furniture design and hotel decoration to the creation of everyday objects.
