Paul Brandt

Paul Brandt

A major figure in modern jewelry design of the 1920s, Paul Brandt worked alongside some of the greatest jewelry designers, such as Fouquet, Templier, and Sandoz. Born in Switzerland, he moved to Paris at a young age, where he pursued an eclectic education in various disciplines (jewelry, painting, sculpture, medal engraving, stone carving, enameling). Drawn to the applied arts, he initially specialized in medal creation, before transitioning to jewelry design. Starting with an Art Nouveau style, he eventually made a name for himself in Art Deco, where he truly excelled.

Brandt shone at the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts, where he participated both as an artist and a jury member alongside prominent figures such as Louis Cartier and Georges Fouquet. He viewed his jewelry as unique works of art and revolutionized their presentation through avant-garde scenographies, collaborating with leading modern architects of the time.

In the 1930s, Brandt shifted toward a more "industrial" art, broadening his focus to include interior design. Though his name remains somewhat discreet, his creations are highly sought after in the art market for their innovative character and aesthetic quality.
