Vacheron Constantin watches

In 1755, Jean Marc Vacheron hired his first apprentice, marking the beginning of the company, then known as VACHERON. The year 1790 saw the start of the "complications" era for the company, with the creation of a pocket watch displaying the hour, day of the week, and date.

In 1819, François Constantin joined the company, which was renamed VACHERON ET CONSTANTIN. François Constantin had a strong commercial sense and focused on expanding the business, particularly internationally. In 1839, VACHERON ET CONSTANTIN gained attention with the invention of the Pantograph, a machine that allowed for precise pointing and drilling. In 1844, they were awarded a gold medal by the Society of Arts for this invention. Over the years, VACHERON ET CONSTANTIN continued to create unique models, earning recognition for their precision.

In 1906, VACHERON CONSTANTIN opened its first boutique on the ground floor of its building in Geneva. The rest of the 20th century was marked by the creation of rare and remarkable pieces.

In 1927, the company created a pocket watch in rock crystal; in 1955, they developed an ultra-thin wristwatch. However, their most stunning creation remains the Kallista wristwatch, made with 1 kg of gold, 118 diamonds, and requiring 6,000 hours of work. More recently, for the company’s 260th anniversary, VACHERON ET CONSTANTIN created the Reference 57260 watch, featuring a total of 57 complications, many of which were unprecedented.

VACHERON CONSTANTIN timepieces frequently appear in our auctions, with models like the Chronomètre, the Historiques, and the Prestige de la France. The Chronomètre symbolizes elegance, subtlety, and prestige; the Historiques are more contemporary and original, while the Prestige de la France stands out for its audacious and innovative dial designs.

We regularly sell these watches to enthusiasts from around the world. Free appraisals by appointment are available in preparation for our upcoming auctions.
