Breguet watches

Founded in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet, the house of BREGUET quickly attracted a clientele of famous figures such as Marie-Antoinette and Napoleon Bonaparte. Shortly after its founding, BREGUET developed the automatic winding system for pocket watches, which earned the brand its reputation.

Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, unknowingly revolutionized the world of watchmaking. In 1808, she commissioned a one-of-a-kind piece for that era, a "wristwatch," which was delivered four years later in 1812. Louis Breguet (1880–1955), a passionate aviation enthusiast, played a key role in the brand's evolution. In the 1950s, the Ministry of Defense launched a call for bids to equip its pilots with highly precise watches. BREGUET responded by creating the Type XX chronograph watches for pilots, featuring a flyback function that allowed them to make precise calculations. Alongside the watches for pilots, BREGUET also developed Type XX watches for civilians, which became highly sought after and remain popular today.

In 1999, BREGUET was acquired by the Swatch Group, allowing the brand to take a new leap forward. BREGUET has since developed new systems, such as the "magnetic pivot" and the "magnetic strike regulator."
