Jewelry & Fine Pearls
On October 10, 1613, Queen Marie de Médicis granted exceptional privileges to the members of the Mellerio family (whose name was francized as "Meller"), who had arrived from Italy a century earlier. Thanks to this decree, renewed by all the kings of France up to Louis XVI, these merchants of small precious objects quickly became jewelers to a prestigious clientele. In 1815, the Mellerios became the first jewelers to establish themselves on Rue de la Paix (number 22), a street recently created by Napoleon Bonaparte at the time.
In 1830, Mellerio was appointed the official supplier to the royal family following the proclamation of Louis Philippe I, King of the French. The house produced transformable jewelry inspired by nature, such as the "ivy corsage" and the "grand fuchsia rain ornament". Enamel was often used to embellish their creations.
Four centuries later, after wars, regime changes, journeys beyond borders, numerous distinctions, innovation patents, and exceptional creations, Mellerio remains today the last family-owned and independent high jewelry house in France.
