I would like to take advantage of the month of January to share with you a brief overview of the past year for the Jewellery Department team.

In jewellery, we organised four fully catalogued auctions, alternating with around ten sales held exclusively online. Thanks to the trust of more than 400 consignors, nearly 2,100 lots were offered at auction, achieving a sell-through rate of 85% and generating total sales of over €7.5 million for this specialty alone.
Since the arrival of Claire Hofmann in the spring, a dedicated Watches department has been developing alongside us within Maison Aguttes. Its momentum was rewarded with annual results of €1.5 million and a record-breaking hammer price of €148,934 (fees included) for a Cartier watch last December.

These figures reflect the results of a year’s work, but they fall far short of conveying the professional and human experience I live every day as Director of this department for the past 23 years, now supported by specialists Adeline Juguet and Éléonore des Beauvais: the excitement of appraisal days and the suspense that comes with them, the encounters and discoveries made possible by our profession, and the constant pleasure of learning new things. All of this culminates in the adrenaline of auctions as they take flight.

Grateful for, and mindful of, the trust placed in us by every consignor and every buyer, we approach 2024 with eagerness, looking forward to continuing to support you in the transmission of your signed antique and modern jewellery—by great jewellers or anonymous makers alike, your precious stones or fine pearls, and your collectible watches.
